Popular comedian and highly sought-after MC
Dr. Ofweneke, real name Sande Bush, has disclosed what led to the breakdown of
his marriage to former wife, Gospel singer Nicah the Queen.
In a candid
interview on Obinna TV YouTube show on Thursday, the lanky MC divulged private
details of what ultimately led to the dissolution of the once-blissful
marriage, adding that while he loved Nicah a lot, he realized that he forgot to
love himself.
"I
ignored the foundation. Why relationships don’t work out is because we get into
relationships with the idea of changing what attracted us to them in the
beginning. You get? This is what I like about you, then I want to come in and
do a whole interior redecorating. So I want to turn you into what I prefer,"
he said.
Ofweneke
also added that the worst mistake he made in the marriage was putting the
burden of happiness on the other person, in this case, Nicah.
"Ppeople
are stuck in powerbank relationships whereby one person is just charging the
other. So the other one is full, and the other one is left empty,"
he stated.
Ofweneke,
who in the past has had public tiffs with his ex-wife, also said that,
eventually, after one has been left high and dry, they tend to cheat, as if to
look for 'energy' in another person, saying, " they have to go look for
another person to refill them."
While
expressing remorse for how the marriage crumbled, Ofweneke also revealed that they
ended the union amicably, in fact, while the couple was relaxing at home.
"I
loved Nicah so much that I forgot myself, but the day I rediscovered myself is
the day I told her mama, it's been a good stretch. Actually, we were holding
hands watching Netflix. We were in the house, the kids were there, my brother
and sister," he said.
The
religious TV host finalised by saying that he was keen to listen to God's voice
as he was clearly instructed that Nicah The Queen was not the woman for him.
"We
were not perfect for each other... I remember that day that I left I remember
God was laughing in my ear, this was not the marriage he had planned for me.
She is a good woman, amazing...but she is not the person I planned out for you.
So you went with aesthetics, while I was going for the calling," he
revealed.
During the
interview, Dr Ofweneke also spoke about his personal struggles, including a
challenging childhood marked by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
The
condition affects behavior, leading to restlessness, difficulty concentrating
and impulsive actions.
Dr Ofweneke
is now married to wife Christine Tenderess, and the couple is blessed with
children.
