Betty Kyallo on doing business during the pandemic: I have struggled

Media personality Betty Kyalo has revealed that running her beauty business has been tough, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an interview with The Star, the entrepreneur admitted that many businesses including hers, which was launched in June 2020, have had a rough time adjusting, owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

She added that the returns for her hair and spa business have not been very lucrative.

"I will not want to say that I am doing very well. Truth be told it has been a rough couple of months for many entrepreneurs," said Betty

The Flair by Betty entrepreneur said that not many people have the money to spend on luxury services, and Flair by Betty falls under this category.

"I have struggled just like other entrepreneurs because the business environment has not been very friendly to small-scale businesses."

"People just don't have money to spend, especially on luxurious services like micro-blading...what we do at the salon," Betty said

According to Betty, she had to result to several tactics in order to ensure her business kept getting constant and consistent customers, thus reducing prices for some services.

"The secret is always knowing how to have your comeback. For us, we did a few things to make sure our customers are still catered for, like reducing the prices. It makes the customer feel that you are considerate,"

Betty previously had a show called Big Quiz Show with comedian Eric Omondi, however it was discontinued following claims that the winners were not receiving their cash prize.

Before joining the Big Quiz show, Betty had a two year run at K24 with her show Weekend with Betty, where she later resigned.
