Actress Dorea Chege says threats will not derail her Nairobi Woman Rep bid
Actress Dorea Chege has revealed that she has
received threats aimed at blocking her from running for the Nairobi Woman
Representative seat in the upcoming August 9 general elections.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, the seemingly
jittered ‘Maria’ actress revealed that she has been receiving threatening
calls and messages from unknown people.
“My name is Mheshimiwa Dorea Chege, na kama
mnavyojua mimi ndio na-vie kiti cha Woman Representative Nairobi County, and
I’m here because I’m not happy. I’m receiving messages, calls and threats from
you guys,” said Chege.
The actress further noted that she is staunch
in her decision to vie for the political seat, adding that her will cannot be
shaken.
She went on to say that even though she does
not have the same resources as her counterparts, she will not step down from
the race.
Chege further urged the faceless people
making unwarranted threats against her to speak through their votes.
“Let me tell you, I’m not stepping down and
one thing that you need to know, I am not a coward,” she said.
“I may not have that money, but let me tell
you, tupatane kwa debe, kura iongee.”
Chege, who is running as an independent candidate, announced her decision to vie for the seat on January 30, 2022.
