Zetech Oaks head coach Ramsfield Matekwa believes their Division 2 victory at Prinsloo Sevens is proof they have the quality to compete on a higher level.

Zetech were relegated from the KRU Championship last season alongside Eldoret RFC but will fight for an immediate return, Matekwa said.

The tactician said the win was a result of sustained hard work, resilience and their competitive spirit in the national circuit.

“We are playing Kabras and KCB in Nakuru and we know that these are big teams who have players in the national team which is a motivation for my boys because they eventually have the feel of how it feels playing with international stars,” Matekwa said.

He assessed that they now have better game management, an attribute they lacked during their disappointing debut year in the championship.

“We knew we needed to have a mindset change and a proper game plan as keys for our transformation.”

Oaks beat University of Eldoret 17-5 in the Division 2 Finals in Mombasa to lift the title and bag a cash prize of KSH.50,000 having trounced South coast Pirates 19-12 in the semi-finals.
