According to Karua, it was voters who chose the wrong direction.
“You had all the opportunities to elect a good leader, but you failed. During former President Mwai Kibaki’s tenure, people were not given money, but they felt the impact of good governance. You knew some people cannot be in leadership,” Karua said.
Speaking during a church service at Difathas Catholic Church, Karua urged Kenyans to vet leaders carefully in all aspects and to vote wisely.
“You might elect bad leaders thinking they are good leaders. Animals are known by their sound. You might choose a cow by its sound only to realize it is another animal,” she said, drawing cheers from residents.
Karua also urged residents to avoid repeating the mistakes of 2022 and not to rush.
“We might run at the same speed we ran in 2022 and find ourselves making the same mistake. It is not bad to make one mistake, but we should not repeat it. Let’s not run at a big speed. Let those who were not misled in 2022 go slowly, to avoid finding ourselves in the same mistake,” said the PLP leader.
She further urged residents not to be carried away by politicians moving around with large amounts of money.
“Please don’t judge leadership with money. You may have a lot of money but you are not a leader,” Karua said.
