Kenyan rally driver Pauline Sheghu is oozing confidence in her team’s readiness as she intensifies preparations for the 2026 WRC Safari Rally set for Naivasha.

Rallying under the moniker ‘Queen of the Dust’,  together with her navigator Linet Ayuko, Sheghu believes her machine is fully compliant with the strict technical standards laid down by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) ahead of the iconic event scheduled for March 12–15, 2026.

Speaking during a detailed inspection session at the garage, Sheghu revealed that her team has left nothing to chance. From the fueling system and tyres to the mechanical components and safety locks, every critical aspect of the car has been thoroughly checked, serviced and updated to meet international requirements.

“We are here to make sure everything is set in terms of the fueling system, tyres, mechanical parts and locks, and that everything is up to date as per FIA requirements. The car is set. It’s a very powerful machine and I hope all goes well. We are ready for both wet and dry conditions,” said Sheghu.

Together with her navigator Ayuko, Sheghu has been undergoing final fine-tuning sessions, including test drives aimed at ensuring optimal performance and reliability. The duo understands the demanding nature of the Safari Rally, widely regarded as one of the toughest legs on the World Rally Championship calendar due to its unpredictable terrain and weather.

Sheghu and Ayuko are determined to make a strong statement on home soil. With their preparations gathering momentum and confidence high within the camp, the pair remain optimistic about delivering a solid performance when the engines roar to life in Naivasha.
