World Cup winner Goetze extends contract at Frankfurt

The 33-year-old midfielder joined Frankfurt in 2022, having spent the bulk of his career with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
"Eintracht Frankfurt means a lot to me," Goetze said in a statement, adding: "I know a football career is finite.
"The joy I get from football and from this club convinced me to extend my contract."
Against Argentina in the 2014 World Cup final, Goetze came off the bench two minutes before the end of regular time with the match goalless.
With 113 minutes played, he chested an Andre Schuerrle pass and blasted a shot across the face of goal to secure Germany's fourth World Cup.
A winner of the 2011 Golden Boy as the best young player in Europe, the middle part of Goetze's career was derailed by injuries, illness and poor form.
He has spoken openly of the pressure of living up to his early promise and his high-profile goal.
After a stint with PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie, he returned to Germany to play for Frankfurt and has since made 148 appearances for them, scoring 12 goals.
Goetze scored 17 times in his 66 Germany appearances, with his last cap coming in 2023.
