Strategic communications consultancy Woodrow has been named Africa Agency of the Year 2026 by PRovoke Media, an international authority on the communications industry, in recognition of its rapid expansion across the continent and its work on complex communications and stakeholder engagements.
The firm said the award acknowledges its growth over the
past five years, during which it has expanded from its Nairobi headquarters to
establish teams and partnerships across Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Senegal
and South Africa, delivering projects in 13 African countries.
According to PRovoke Media, Woodrow is "a different
kind of communications firm for Africa," highlighting its locally built,
cross-border operating model and focus on high-stakes communications
assignments reflecting the continent's political and economic landscape.
Founded by Charlie Tarr, the consultancy says it has more
than doubled its revenue since 2024 while supporting projects that have reached
global audiences exceeding 70 million people across multiple markets.
Reacting to the recognition, Woodrow founder and Chief
Executive Officer Charlie Tarr said the award validates the firm's vision of
building world-class communications expertise from within Africa.
"When we started Woodrow, we believed Africa deserved
communications advice built for Africa's realities, not imported templates.
This recognition is a testament to our people, our clients and our belief that
world-class strategic communications can be built from the continent and
compete with the very best anywhere in the world," Tarr said.
David Karega, the firm's Head of East and Southern Africa,
described the accolade as a reflection of the trust clients have placed in the
agency across major campaigns, policy engagements and crisis communications.
"This award belongs to the team and the clients who
have trusted us with some of their most important moments... It shows that
globally recognised PR excellence can be built from Nairobi and delivered
across Africa," Karega said.
Woodrow attributes its growth to a local-first operating
model that combines in-market expertise with regional coordination.
