Woman suspected of stabbing boyfriend to death detained

Police officers are detaining a middle-aged woman suspected to have stabbed her boyfriend to death at Chianda market in Rarieda, Siaya County.

According to East Katweng'a assistant chief, Esau Okoth Onduru, the late Vincent Odiyo, was stabbed in the stomach after picking a quarrel with his girlfriend.

Odiyo was rushed to the nearby Odede dispensary, where he was referred to Bondo Sub County Hospital. He was then confirmed dead on arrival.

Police have since visited the crime scene, a house rented by Macrine Akinyi Omil, believed to be the deceased’s girlfriend.

They recovered a blood-stained kitchen knife before visiting the Bondo Hospital mortuary to examine the victim’s body.

Omil will remain in custody at Aram police station as police await postmortem results.
