Wetangula visits Kenyan High Commissioner to Zambia Flora Karugu in Lusaka

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula on Tuesday called on Ambassador Flora Karugu, the High Commissioner of Kenya to Zambia, during a tour of duty in the Zambian capital Lusaka.

A statement from Mr Wetangula’s office said Ambassador Karugu, during the meeting, provided an overview of the long-standing relationship between Zambia and Kenya that has evolved over time.

She said the relationship had been beneficial, particularly in the context of her role as a permanent representative to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).

Wetangula on his part underscored the influence of the founding father of Zambia, the late Kenneth Kaunda, and the collective efforts of other pan-African visionary presidents in delivering the continent’s independence.

He said their leadership offered vision and determination which continue to serve as the bedrock upon which African nations are founded and united to date.

“As we reflect on the present, it is noteworthy that we currently preside over the most peaceful parliament in our nation's history”, said Wetangula. 

“We have come a long way, and our journey has been cemented with a vision centred on ensuring the effective representation of our people and propelling economic development within our beloved country.”

Wetangula was accompanied by members of the House Business Committee; Silvanus Osoro, Majority Whip Adan Keynan, T.J. Kajwang, Sarah Korere, and Joshua Mwalyo.
