Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader
Raila Odinga and his wife Mama Ida have sent a joint message wishing Kenyans a merry
Christmas.
Odinga, in the statement to newsrooms on
Christmas Eve, urged Kenyans to take the festive period as a time to reflect on
the impact of their own lives.
“As we reflect on the birth and high impact
life and work of our Lord Jesus Christ, I wish to appeal to fellow citizens to
take time and reflect on the impact of our own lives on our country and fellow
citizens,” said Odinga.
“Jesus’ impacted humans in ways that we
refuse to forget more than two thousand years later. Our lives certainly can’t
match his, but we can make a difference just by trying.”
The former premier further urged citizens to
remain steadfast in their faith towards the journey they have began, which he
described as “bigger and better” and one which shall outlive everybody.
“Like the early Christians, let’s embrace the
faith and hope that as followers of Christ, we are on a mission and a journey
to something bigger and better and which shall outlive all of us,” he stated.
“May the spirit of Utu, Undugu, Umoja guide
our dealings through this festive season and be part of our national character
going forward.”
