Wanyonyi shifts focus to Monaco Diamond League after narrow Oslo defeat

The Kenyan star narrowly missed out on victory in a dramatic photo finish at the Bislett Games in Oslo, where American teenage sensation Cooper Lutkenhaus continued his remarkable rise by claiming another Diamond League win.

Despite the setback, Wanyonyi remains confident that he will soon return to winning ways.

“Yes, I am going back to training, and my next focus is the Diamond League in Monaco. I believe I will be ready to bounce back to my winning ways,” said Wanyonyi.

The world champion was making his return to Diamond League competition after a short paternity leave following the birth of his first child. He said he remains committed to putting in the hard work needed to regain top form.

“It is still early in the season. I am not worried at all. I have run my season's best today, and I believe I will continue improving in the coming races,” he added.

After becoming a father for the first time, the Olympic champion said he is motivated to make his newborn daughter proud through his performances on the track.

“It is the proudest moment of my life. I want to work hard in my career and make her happy. When she grows up, she will see the fruits of her father's hard work,” stated Wanyonyi.
