Speaking during the launch of a Safina Party office in Siaya County on Saturday, Wanjigi appealed to the electorate to register as members of his party, insisting that it is better positioned to safeguard the region’s political interests.
According to Wanjigi, Safina is the party that will save the Nyanza region based on the manner in which the ODM party is currently being managed.
“Join this Safina party and join in large numbers. Because the way I see how ODM is being led, I see that I am the one who will save the people here in Siaya,” he said.
Wanjigi also dismissed leaders who have aligned themselves with President William Ruto, saying they lack a clear plan for empowering Nyanza.
"When others come here, they will tell you that you want power. Show them the formula. Show them the formula. Because those who say they are going with that guy, they don't have his formula. Can't you see they are starting to panic now? Aren't they panicking now? They have seen that Kasongo is a liar. Kasongo is a trick master. Isn't he the same Kasongo we knew from long ago?” Wanjigi implored Siaya residents.
Wanjigi, who was flanked by his deputy Willis Otieno and Safina Party Secretary General Joachim Simiyu, pleaded for support from Luo Nyanza, stating that he has been a true friend of the region even when the late ODM leader Raila Odinga was still alive.
“And you saw me standing with Baba (Raila Odinga), shoulder to shoulder. He was a very, very, very close friend. That is why I have come to Siaya to tell you that I have been with you,” he said.
He dismissed the likes of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, saying that he is the true friend who stood with the late Raila wholeheartedly.
On his part, his deputy, Willis Otieno, stated that Safina is the party that will enable economic liberation of this country and equally pleaded with the residents to join in good numbers.
“If you believe that we want a country where the people of Kenya can get the services they deserve, then we welcome you to Safina,” he said.
The opening of the Siaya office marks the party’s latest effort to build grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
