Wandayi urges Kenyans to embrace renewable energy in scheme to lower electricity costs

The CS said the move, other than addressing the adverse effects of power outages, will also enable an environmentally friendly power source to spur economic growth in the country.
Wandayi, who was speaking after the commissioning of the Solar-Powered Hybrid System at the Nairobi Remand and Allocation Maximum Security Prison, hailed the renewable energy investment push owing to its electricity reliability and cost-effectiveness.
The project has been supported by the European Union and UNODC partners, who noted that the solar-powered system has improved efficiency and welfare of the inmates in the selected stations.
The development partners said the push will strengthen the administration of justice in Kenya by safeguarding the constitutional rights of inmates.
The event was also graced by PS of Correctional Services Dr. Salome Beacco, who said the project will improve dignity and innovations among the inmates, as she pushed for a sustainable investment in the docket.
