Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome was warmly received at Ardhi House as she resumed her role in President William Ruto's broad-based government.

Wahome had served as Lands CS for nine months before the president fired his entire cabinet save for Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi amid the anti-government protests that rocked the country. A week later, President Ruto nominated Wahome to her previous docket in the new-look Cabinet.

She was received by Lands PS Nixon Korir, who had temporarily assumed the duties prior to her appointment, and other officials. Wahome held meetings whereby she was briefed on the current state of affairs in her ministry.

"Honoured to resume my duties in the Office of The Cabinet Secretary for The Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development," she said.

"My commitment to serve The People of Kenya and be a faithful counsellor to the President with honour and dignity for the making of a better and great nation remains steadfast and unwavering."

Wahome will be seeking to work round the clock to address the issues in her docket, ranging from cartels, Housing Levy program and complete digitisation of land records.

While appearing before the Committee on Appointments, the CS explained that her ministry would require Ksh.40 billion to digitise all the records.

At the same time, she vowed to extend the Housing Levy programme to rural areas once the matter is resolved in court.

"I'm a team worker, I'm a hard worker, I believe in hardwork and I have the right attitude to carry out my work as a minister," she said.
