Viory, the video news agency of the Global South, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), Ethiopia’s oldest national news agency.

The MoU will enable the two organisations to share news and expertise more freely, while laying the groundwork for continued professional collaboration.

Areas of cooperation include the exchange of news stories, infographics, videos and photos, international news coverage across the Global South and Ethiopia, joint training programmes, and the sharing of best practices in newsroom technology, the use of AI in newsrooms and multimedia platform development.

"This partnership with Viory is an important step for us as we work to bring Ethiopian and African stories to a wider global audience.

“Viory's reach across the Global South gives us a valuable channel to spread the news more broadly, while also opening the door to mutual expertise exchange. We look forward to building a strong, long-term working relationship with Viory." Said ENA deputy CEO Tefera Bekele Daba.

“Partnering with the Ethiopian News Agency marks a significant step in deepening our presence in East Africa. We believe that meaningful media partnerships help diverse stories, reach wider audiences, and we look forward to expanding news exchange, building on shared expertise and bringing Ethiopian stories to audiences around the world.” Added Viory Africa distribution lead.

The partnership builds on Viory’s expanding network of MoUs with news organisations across Africa, strengthening cooperation with trusted partners through existing agreements with organizations including the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC).

It strengthens Viory’s access to news and perspectives from East Africa, providing direct access to breaking news, footage and expert voices from Ethiopia and the wider region, while bringing more stories and perspectives from across the continent to audiences in the Global South.
