Parents and victims of Finland/Canada scholarship fiasco in Uasin Gishu County on Wednesday held demonstrations in Eldoret Town.

The agitated residents headed to the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) offices to deliver their petition.

The agitated parents and students called for President William Ruto to intervene on the misappropriation of funds that has left them devastated.

They reiterated that the planned devolution conference which is scheduled to kick off next week in Eldoret will not go on until they get their money back.

According to Kimutai Kirui, an Eldoret based human rights activist, Senator Jackson Mandago and Governor Jonathan Bii are to be blamed for the misappropriation of funds.

The parents, who sold off their property and took huge loans for their children to study abroad, are agitated as their children are still at home two years later.

According to EACC, an investigation into the scandal began in March 2023, and is now nearing its completion.

The findings will then be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for the next course of action.
