Two directors of Amazement Park in Uasin Gishu have been arrested after five KCPE students died during a fun day at a man-made dam.

The arrests were confirmed by Uasin Gishu police commander Benjamin Mwanthi, who added that investigations into the incident are still ongoing pending the duo's arraignment.

Five KCPE candidates were out for a fun day on Saturday before the national exams on Monday when their boat capsized.

Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu said his ministry was collaborating with the Interior Ministry to conduct "thorough and conclusive investigations into the incident."

According to a police report, the five students were part of a group of Standard Six and Standard Eight students accompanied by teachers to a hotel for recreational activities.

Five Standard Eight students drowned, while one Standard Six student survived and was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital with severe oxygen deficiency.

Meanwhile, Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii paid a visit to the families affected by the tragedy, saying the county government will work with them to give the deceased a proper send-off.
