Two people lost their lives on Friday evening following an accident at Kayole area on the Nairobi-Naivasha highway after a trailer lost control and rammed a pick-up.

A trailer ferrying goods to the Western side of the country is reported to have lost its breaks at the steep stretch of Kinungi, and upon reaching Kayole area, hit the pick-up that was ferrying paints then landed in a ditch and immediately caught fire.

The driver of the trailer was reportedly burnt beyond recognition, while a female driver who was driving the pick-up died upon arrival at the Naivasha level 4 hospital.

Two conductors from both vehicles are under medical care, while others were treated and discharged.

Police have launched investigations into the 7pm accident to establish the cause, while the bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the Naivasha hospital mortuary.
