'Two mischievous characters': Gachagua accuses DP Kindiki, CS Ruku of attempt to divide Mt Kenya

Gachagua claimed the two leaders had abandoned efforts to split the region after residents rejected 'attempts' to create divisions within the community.

“I have woken up to the happenings back home that the two mischievous characters assigned by Mr. William Ruto to divide the mountain have given up after the residents of the region rejected their attempts in total,” Gachagua alleged in a post on X. 

Gachagua alleged that efforts to divide the region had been funded over the past two years, accusing Kindiki and Ruku of pursuing a 'failed mission.'

“The efforts to divide the mountain using stolen cash for the last two years have failed flat,” he said.

On Saturday, Kindiki held a meeting with elders from the Kikuyu, Embu and Meru communities at Kirigiti Stadium, where the DP challenged CS Ruku to return a symbolic axe that he said had been presented as a symbol of efforts to divide the Mount Kenya region.

Ruku subsequently returned the axe to the elders and was handed a flywhisk by one of them.

Gachagua interpreted the return of the axe as an admission that efforts to divide the region had failed.

“I have noted that the assembled ‘elders’, at a cost of Ksh.3,000 each, were given back a symbolic axe by the two agents of division as an admission of their frustrations and inability to divide a community that has lived together for centuries and shares common values, language, culture, and beliefs,” he claimed. 

He urged the elders to return the axe to those who had handed it to them, saying it should ultimately be taken back to President William Ruto.

Gachagua, however, said attempts to divide Mount Kenya into East and West had failed and warned of new efforts to divide the former Central Province.

“Having failed to divide Mt. Kenya into the imaginary West and East, the mountaineers are aware of new efforts to divide the former Central Province,” he stated.

“This too will fail. Our people are too intelligent to fall for such innuendos,” he added.

Gachagua also accused the Ruto administration of pursuing a broader strategy that he claimed involved dividing the Mount Kenya vote, splitting Linda Mwananchi and causing conflict within what he called the United Alternative Government.

“The first one has failed, and the other two shall fail miserably,” he stated.

He urged his political allies to remain alert against attempts by the government and security agencies to infiltrate and disrupt their political activities.
