Turkana: Man kills another over Ksh.50 debt, angry mob stones him to death

A pair of middle-aged men lost their lives on Thursday in Lokichar, Turkana County, following two related incidents attributed to an outstanding debt.

One of the victims is said to have stabbed the other in the chest for failing to pay back a Ksh.50 debt reportedly accrued from the sale of a chicken.

The stabbed man died immediately after, while the perpetrator fled after a mob started gathering at the scene.

His efforts proved futile as the irate mob soon after caught up to him and stoned him to death.

“He attempted to run away but the irate mob chased after him and caught up to him. They then stoned him to death," an eye witness told Citizen Digital.

The deceased duo’s bodies have since been moved to Lodwar Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.

Local elders have condemned the incident while urging youth not to result to violence when settling their differences.
