Traffic snarl-up after lorry accident on Nakuru–Eldoret Highway

According to the National Police Service, the incident occurred at around 1:40 p.m., leaving the busy highway impassable and forcing authorities to implement emergency traffic management measures.

Police said the lorry, which was carrying a load, straddled across the highway following the accident, causing a significant snarl-up along the key transport corridor linking Nakuru and Eldoret.

To ease congestion, officers introduced temporary diversions for motorists travelling along affected routes. 

Drivers heading from Kericho towards Kisumu were redirected to use the Njoro–Molo–Nakuru Road, while those travelling from Nakuru to Eldoret were advised to use the Nakuru–Eldama Ravine–Eldoret Road.

Authorities said efforts were underway to remove the obstructing vehicle and restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible.

Motorists were urged to remain patient, observe lane discipline, and follow directions issued by traffic police at the scene.
