Hundreds of students who posted excellent results in the 2025 KCSE examinations have every reason to smile after the Equity Group Foundation, through the Equity Leadership Program, selected several top performers from every county across the country for a life-changing leadership and scholarship initiative.

The beneficiaries will undergo specialized training in Nairobi focused on leadership, integrity, personal development and community service, alongside scholarship support and internship opportunities with Equity Bank.

Once again, the Equity Leadership Program, a flagship initiative under the Equity Group Foundation, has extended a lifeline to hundreds of KCSE "A" grade students from disadvantaged backgrounds across the country, offering them a platform to nurture their academic excellence into purpose-driven leadership.

In Kisii County, a total of 14 students who scored grade A in the KCSE examination expressed joy and gratitude after securing the rare opportunity, saying the program will help shape their character, values and leadership skills.

“I’m happy to join the Equity internship program. I believe through this program it will help so many of us,” said Theresa Kerubo, beneficiary, Kisii.

“This is a very transformative agenda in line with our vision to transform lives,” said Nicholas Owuor, representing the Equity Bank Manager, Kisii.

In Machakos County, 20 students were selected to join their peers in Nairobi for the leadership boot camp, where they will be exposed to mentorship, career guidance and practical work experience with Equity Bank.

“This program has given me hope and motivation to pursue my dream,” said Joseph Mbithi, beneficiary, Machakos.

“Mpango huu utanifaa zaidi, especially professional growth as I aspire to become a cardiologist,” said Patience Ndunge, beneficiary, Machakos.

A similar scene was witnessed in Migori County, where 16 students secured their places under the prestigious program.

Program coordinators say the Equity Leadership Program goes beyond financial support, aiming to prepare the youth for the world of work, responsible citizenship and the real-life challenges facing young people in Kenya today.

The Equity Leadership Program, established in 1998 under the Equity Group Foundation, targets high-performing students from underprivileged backgrounds and has over the years produced leaders across various sectors, making it one of the most impactful youth empowerment programs in the country.
