American television news anchor Rob Finnerty has issued an apology to Kenyans following his controversial remarks about Nairobi.

The controversy arose after the Newsmax host claimed during a live primetime broadcast that an influx of third-world immigrants was making New York City resemble Nairobi.

“Joe Biden let millions of people from third-world countries Africa, the Middle East, South America, we have no idea where these people are from,” Finnerty said.

“They move to Blue sanctuary cities, and the cities then start to look like Nairobi, than New York City,” he added.

He also compared the immigrant crisis to what is happening in the UK and France, where they are facing challenges with undocumented migrants.

“What is happening in the UK and France is happening here already,” he said.

The comment triggered a massive social media backlash from Kenyans, prompting Finnerty to issue a public apology.

Taking to his X account, Finnerty called the comments ‘a mistake' and applauded Kenyans for the passion they have for their city.

“I want to offer an apology to the people of Nairobi, Kenya. The passion you have your city and homeland is amazing… We all make mistakes. I misspoke, and I am sorry to anyone I have offended,” Finnerty wrote.

Kenyans are however not satisfied with the apology, with some demanding an apology live on TV, the same way the offensive remarks were made.
