Tob Cohen's murder trial: Bartenders recount his final moments before disappearance

Three prosecution witnesses who worked at entertainment joints frequented by Cohen told the High Court that he spent the evening enjoying his favourite whiskey before leaving shortly after midnight.

Michael Wainaina and Aggrey Ingano, who worked as bartenders at an entertainment joint in Parklands, told the court that Cohen regularly visited the establishment for whiskey and music.

Wainaina said Cohen would typically visit the establishment on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

"Alikuwa akija Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Alikuwa anapenda muziki so angekaa kwa counter akikunywa whiskey," Wainaina said.

Ingano told the court that Cohen arrived at the establishment at around 12:30 am and ordered a drink before a woman joined him.

"At 12:30 am he came straight to the counter and asked for a drink. A lady joined him and he bought her a drink," Ingano said.

The two witnesses said nothing appeared unusual that night, apart from a brief disagreement involving some of the women who were in Cohen's company.

Another witness, Dennis Gekona, who worked at Muthaiga Golf Club, told the court that Cohen had passed by the club earlier that evening for drinks and a snack.

"At the club, he was served with some drinks. Two tots of Jameson. At 7:31 pm he was served with another two tots of Jameson. At 9:55 pm, he was served with two samosas," Gekona said.

The testimonies form part of the prosecution's case against Sarah Wairimu, who is accused of giving instructions to domestic workers about her husband's whereabouts after his disappearance.

Wairimu reported Cohen missing before his body was discovered 60 days later, concealed in a septic tank within the compound of their home in Kitisuru.

The High Court will hear testimony from four more witnesses on Thursday.
