Three suspects linked to TikTok gang-rape scheme arrested in Ruai

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), 21-year-old Emanuel Bosire Arisa, 17-year-old Ismail Ouru Arisa and 21-year-old Brian Gatheru Nderitu operated an anonymous TikTok page to lure unsuspecting women. 

Preliminary investigations showed that the suspects would set up physical meetings with the victims and lead them to secluded areas where they robbed them of their valuables and committed violent sexual acts. 

In some cases, the victims were allegedly forced to transfer money via M-Pesa to accounts controlled by the suspects, while others were robbed of their mobile phones and other devices. 

After receiving intelligence on the suspects' whereabouts, detectives arrested the trio in Ruai and recovered six mobile phones and two hooded jackets. 

Five women who had reported their ordeal in separate police stations in Buruburu, Embakasi and Ruai positively identified the suspects, strengthening the case against them. 

The detectives cautioned the public against meeting with online strangers in secluded areas. 

"The DCI cautions members of the public, particularly young people, to be wary of strangers met online. Never let someone you have just met online lead you into a secluded or isolated place; meet in a safe, public setting and ensure someone you trust knows your whereabouts," the DCI stated. 

"In the digital world, not every friendly profile is what it appears to be; what looks like an innocent invitation can quickly become a deadly trap."
