The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested Inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang, a suspect wanted in connection with the murders of Nairobi lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu and Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso.

Sang was arrested in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County, by detectives from the DCI headquarters following what the agency described as actionable intelligence.

In a statement, the DCI said detectives intercepted Sang along Uganda Road in Eldoret’s Central Business District while he was driving a silver Toyota Fielder, registration number KCM 508L.

The suspect was reportedly attempting to sell the vehicle to raise money for his daily upkeep at the time of his arrest.

His arrest marks a breakthrough in the two murder investigations, with detectives now pursuing additional leads to establish the circumstances surrounding the killings and determine whether other individuals were involved.

“Detectives are now pursuing further leads to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killings and determine whether other individuals were involved,” the DCI said.

Following his arrest, Sang was escorted to Eldoret Police Station for processing as he awaits arraignment in court.

The DCI said it remained committed to ensuring justice for the victims and their families, adding that investigators would continue following credible leads to bring all those implicated in the killings before the courts.

“No rank, status or affiliation places anyone above the law,” the agency stated.
