The Directorate
of Criminal investigation (DCI) says
it has
dismantled a robbery syndicate accused of terrorizing wines and spirits traders
across Kajiado, Kiambu and Nairobi counties.
Police said the gang carried out coordinated
surveillance and targeted attacks, robbing outlets of cash and alcoholic stock
before distributing the stolen goods through an organized network.
The alleged mastermind, Peter Muhia Njenga, was
arrested in Nakuru County
after weeks of forensic tracking and surveillance.
Two suspected accomplices: John Mugo Nderito, believed
to be a key distributor of stolen consignments and Elisha Njeri Katito,
allegedly linked to vehicles used in the operations were arrested in Ruiru and
Juja respectively.
Authorities recovered assorted alcoholic products
bearing traders’ unique identification marks.
Victims from Ongata Rongai and Karen have since
identified some of the recovered property at Kikuyu Police station.
Forensic experts are analyzing CCTV footage to support
the prosecution’s case.
The suspects remain in custody pending arraignment as
investigations continue.
