The suspects, Kenneth Mwiti Kiogora and Daniel Mukoya Olando, were arrested separately and arraigned at Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, where they denied the charges.
Mwiti formerly served as Second Clerk Assistant at the Kiambu County Assembly, a position he allegedly acquired using a forged Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate.
During his employment, he allegedly fraudulently acquired public property amounting to Ksh.6,283,631.30 in salaries.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) charged him with fraudulent acquisition of public property, forgery, uttering a false document, and deceiving a principal.
Mukoya, on the other hand, allegedly forged a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option) degree certificate that he used for appointment as Acting Fire Supervisor at KAA. He was charged with knowingly using a false or misleading document, forgery, uttering a false document, and giving false information.
Mwiti was released on a cash bail of Ksh. 150,000 and a bond of Ksh. 1 million with a surety of a similar amount, while Mukoya was released on Ksh. 100,000 cash bail or a Ksh. 500,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.
EACC is set to recover the salaries and other benefits allegedly obtained through the use of the fraudulent academic qualifications.
