Three suspected poachers nabbed in Marsabit with 39.5kg of elephant tusks

The trio was apprehended in a rented house in the Majengo area of Marsabit town at around midnight on Wednesday.
Confirming the incident, Marsabit County Police Commander Leonard Kimaiyo said the suspects were found with elephant tusks weighing a total of 39.5 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Ksh.600,000.
Kimaiyo revealed that the arrests were made by police officers acting on a tip-off from members of the public.
He commended local residents for their cooperation, noting that the information they provided was instrumental in tracking down and apprehending the suspects.
The police boss further reiterated the government's commitment to fighting poaching and the illegal trade in wildlife products, warning those engaging in the vice that the law would catch up with them.
The three suspects are expected to be arraigned in court to face charges related to the illegal possession of wildlife trophies.
