Three arrested over violent house robbery in Kisumu

According to the National Police Service, the arrests followed an investigation into a robbery in which three men, armed with pangas, metal bars and what appeared to be a pistol, were captured on CCTV forcing their way into a home before making away with household items and injuring one person.

Investigators said the operation began with the arrest of one suspect, whose interrogation led officers to a house in Rabuor where another suspect was believed to be hiding.

When officers raided the premises, two more people were arrested. However, the suspect they had been pursuing managed to flee before he could be apprehended.

During the search, detectives recovered several household items believed to have been stolen during the robbery. They also seized a toy gun resembling a pistol, several SIM cards, tools suspected to have been used to break into the victim's home and rolls of bhang.

Police later searched another rented house linked to the suspects in the same area, where they recovered more items believed to have been stolen. Among them was a national identity card belonging to one of the robbery victims, which investigators say could strengthen the case against the suspects.

The three suspects are being held at Kasagam Police Station pending the completion of investigations.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the remaining suspect, saying efforts to recover more stolen property and establish whether the group is linked to other robbery incidents are ongoing.
