Students from Kaiboi Technical Institute in Nandi North Sub County engaged police in running battles following the death of one of their colleagues on Monday.

The woman was stabbed in the neck as she was queueing for breakfast.

According to Kaiboi Location Chief Wilson Serem, one of the students began harassing her and an altercation ensued.

The administrator further claimed that the two were involved in a love triangle and that is what led to the quarrel.

He identified the man who allegedly stabbed the deceased as a student from the National Youth Service.

Police who were called in had a difficult time accessing the scene after irate students attacked the man and seriously injured him.

He was later admitted to the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital.

The body of the deceased is awaiting postmortem at the same facility.

Kaiboi Technical Institute has since been closed with the management saying:

“Due to students unrest, arising from an assault of a female student by a male student. It has become necessary to close the institute until further notice. You are hereby urged to vacate the institute immediately.”
