Strathmore Blades coach Ochieng calls for consistency after stellar weekend

The students claimed local bragging rights after hammering fellow varsity side ANU Wolfpacks 65-44 before edging out UON Terror 67-61 at the Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium in Nairobi.

The double victory saw Strathmore collect maximum points and strengthen their position in the standings. The Blades now sit on 19 points from 12 matches, having won seven games and lost five.

Reflecting on the team's performance, Ochieng expressed satisfaction with the discipline and execution displayed by his players, particularly away from home.

"It was a tightly contested game, but we maintained our focus throughout. We were able to execute our strengths effectively, and I'm happy that we secured the maximum points. We are performing well, especially on the road. Our defense continues to improve with every game, and our shooting has also shown significant progress," said Ochieng.

Despite the impressive results, the long-serving tactician believes there is still room for improvement as the team continues its push up the league table.

Ochieng pointed to transition defense, three-point defense and ball movement as key areas the side must sharpen in the coming weeks.

"We just need to work on a few areas, particularly how to stop teams in transition, defend the three-point shot, and improve our ball movement. Overall, I'm really happy with the performance. The boys played very well, and I hope they can maintain the same level of focus and commitment going forward," he added.

The weekend sweep provided a timely boost for Strathmore, who appear to be hitting form at a crucial stage of the season. With confidence growing within the squad and performances steadily improving on both ends of the floor, the Blades will be aiming to build on the momentum as they continue their quest for a strong finish in the regular season.
