AFC Leopards head coach Fred Ambani says a squad shake-up is
inevitable if the big cats are to finally end their title hoodoo that has
stretched to 28 years.
The former Leopards sharp shooter, now serving as club president
suggested that the 12-time league champions must strengthen to be able to lift
the gong next term.
“For us to be able to make additions…then it means we will
be forced to release some players. Because if you say you sign without dropping
then this will impact negatively to our wage bill and so I would like to ask
all of you to support us,” he said. “When we release players please let’s all
understand that it’s not our wish but some things must happen in order to pave
way for another thing to happen.”
Ingwe finished second behind arch-rivals Gor Mahia in the
just concluded season and Ambani is calling upon fans to keep pushing them to
success.
Ambani has also hailed the role of the 12th man,
for driving the team on, last term, and he hopes they can replicate the success
in the new season.
“If we continue with
that spirit I believe we are going to build the strongest team of players and
fans as well. I am sure we have the largest fan support base which even
reflects in the stadium which is something very positive for us as Leopards.
“We have numbers in fans and we are encouraging you guys
that even next season keep pushing us as we work hard to achieve our main goal
which is winning the league,” Ambani added.
