The management of a school on Kirawa Road in Kitisuru, Nairobi, has said its directors have travelled to Tanzania to work with relevant authorities and the family following the death of a learner during an educational trip to Arusha.

In a statement issued on its WhatsApp channel on Friday, November 6, Kirawa Road School said the directors were working closely with authorities and the deceased learner's family to establish and address the circumstances surrounding the death.

The statement did not expound further on the circumstances surrounding the learner's death.

The school also expressed condolences to the bereaved family, saying its thoughts were with the learners and members of staff who were part of the trip and had been affected by the loss.

"We have lost a cherished member of our learning family, and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the bereaved family during this painful time," the statement read.

Updates shared by the school's administration on its WhatsApp channel showed that learners were scheduled to assemble at the school on Sunday, November 1, at 6pm ahead of their departure for Tanzania.

In an update sent to parents on Monday, November 2, at 1:30pm, the administration said the learners had completed border clearance and were crossing into Tanzania.

The learners began their return journey to Kenya on Thursday, November 5, with an update sent to parents at 7:56am indicating that the group was leaving Arusha.

The administration later informed parents at 6:39pm that the learners had arrived in Nairobi and urged parents to make arrangements to collect their children.
