Spotify has partnered with Afro Nation Portugal as the festival's official sponsor and exclusive streaming partner in a move aimed at bringing African music to a wider global audience beyond the live event.

The partnership will see Spotify launch a dedicated Afro Nation destination on its platform, giving fans access to official festival playlists, featured artists, exclusive content and selected performance videos before, during and after the festival.

Scheduled to take place from July 3 to 5 in Portimão, Portugal, Afro Nation has grown into one of the world's biggest celebrations of African music and culture, attracting thousands of fans from across the globe while providing a platform for African artists to reach international audiences.

According to Spotify, the collaboration builds on the festival's long-standing commitment to championing Afrobeats and African music by extending the festival experience to listeners worldwide, including those unable to attend in person.

The streaming platform said the dedicated hub will enable fans to discover artists, stream official playlists and relive selected performances captured during the festival, creating a year-round connection between audiences and the event.

"Afro Nation is more than a festival — it's a global expression of African music, fan culture and creative influence," said Rifumo Mdaka, Spotify's Content Marketing Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa.

"Our partnership is about helping that moment travel further through our first collaboration with Afronation of this nature. By bringing the festival to Spotify, we're giving fans a place to connect with the artists, performances and stories that define the festival, long after the final set."

Spotify said the partnership underscores its continued investment in African music by supporting artist discovery, playlisting, live performance content and fan-led storytelling that connects audiences across borders.

As part of the collaboration, Spotify will also document the experience of a top fan travelling to Afro Nation Portugal, highlighting the role of fandom and cultural exchange in driving the global growth of African music.

Clémence Blum, Director of Global Partnerships at The Malachite Group and Afro Nation, said the collaboration represents an important milestone in expanding the festival's impact beyond the live event.

"Afro Nation has always been more than a festival. It is a platform built to celebrate African music, support artist breakthroughs and connect a global community through culture," Blum said.

"Our partnership with Spotify is a significant moment for us because it reflects the shared role we both play in discovery, helping artists reach new audiences and giving fans deeper ways to engage with the music they love. This collaboration marks an exciting evolution of the Afro Nation experience, extending the energy of the festival beyond the live event."
