Six people who lost their lives in a horrific road accident at Kegati along the Kisii–Keroka highway two weeks ago will be laid to rest on Friday (today) in various parts of Nyaribari Chache constituency.

The deceased among them, Hassan Momanyi, Callister Mairura, Gilbert Mogoko, Mzee Makori, and Edwin Obonyo, perished after a trailer reportedly lost its brakes and ploughed into them at the Kegati trading centre.

Speaking at Kegati market as the bodies were being transported to their respective homes, the chairman of the funeral committee, Mr. Luka Momanyi, announced that a joint funeral service for all victims will be held at the Kegati Primary School grounds.

Mr. Momanyi urged Kisii residents to turn out in large numbers to stand in solidarity with the bereaved families during this difficult period.

Additionally, he issued a warning to anyone planning to attend the burial with intentions of causing a disturbance, noting that several high-ranking leaders are expected to attend the ceremony.
