Six arrested over shooting of Laikipia rancher Lucy Jennings

Six suspects have been arrested in connection to Sunday’s shooting of Laikipia rancher Lucy Wambui Jennings.

Laikipia West Sub-County Police Commander Benjamin Muhia says Police are trailing more suspects and seeking to nab the weapon used in the shooting incident.   

The 50-year-old rancher who is currently receiving treatment in hospital was waylaid by the assailants as she was on her way to church and was shot in the back of her head and her arm.

The Rumuruti Business Community has condemned the shooting, noting that the victim has been embroiled in court battles with illegal grazers who continue to trespass on the ranch.

 Residents in the area want the government to deploy more National Police Reservists to weed out illegal grazers in possession of unlicensed firearms.
