Bandari FC goalkeeping coach Razak Siwa has urged his team
to step up their efforts as they target winning the FKF Cup and securing a
ticket to next season’s CAF Confederation Cup, while also aiming for a strong
finish in the FKF Premier League.
Bandari last lifted the domestic cup in 2015 after beating
Nakumatt FC 4-2, and Siwa believes they can replicate that success this season
under head coach Bernard Mwalala.
His remarks come after Bandari booked their place in the
quarterfinals of the 2026 FKF Cup with a 2-0 victory over National Super League
side 3K FC at Wang’uru Stadium, courtesy of goals from Clifford Otieno and
Joseph Otieno. In the league, Bandari are currently ninth with 38 points, 19
behind leaders Gor Mahia, whom they face on April 19.
“This is a trophy we have won before, and this time we will
try to win it again. It won’t be easy, but we will fight for it. The league is
different from the FKF Cup, but we want to beat Gor Mahia and also win this cup
to qualify for CAF competitions,” said Siwa.
Despite yesterday’s win, Siwa acknowledges the challenge
posed by 3K FC, praising their discipline and competitiveness.
“We thank God for the win because knockout matches are never
easy. 3K is a good team despite being in a lower division, they are very
disciplined. However, our experience and confidence helped us overcome them,”
he added.
