Sifuna dismisses Ruto's Vision 2060 plan, says its in wrong hands

Speaking during a Linda Mwananchi rally on Sunday in Mumias, Kakamega County, Sifuna pointed at Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, saying he could have waited for 12 months before unveiling the plan to the President.

“Nyong’o, you could have waited for 12 months, then delivered the 2060 plan. You cannot sit down a hen and chicks to document how they want to live until 2060, then submit the plan to an eagle,” he argued.

According to Sifuna, everyone has been saying that the youth are the leaders of tomorrow, yet the same “tomorrow” is being planned for by the older generation.

His remarks come amid growing political debate over President Ruto’s Vision 2060 plan, with opposition leaders questioning the focus on a long-term development agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua dismissed the plans, questioning the value of a decades-long development plan while Kenyans grapple with dire economic and security concerns.

His counterpart, Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, described the plan as a political deception meant to divert Kenyans' attention from the country's pressing economic challenges.

However, the Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, challenged Kenyans to look beyond the 2027 elections and back President William Ruto’s long-term Vision 2060 agenda, warning against reducing the country’s future to short-term political contests.

The President had also defended this week's planned National Dialogue on a road map towards the realization of a first-world economy, accusing the United Opposition of opposing the initiative for political reasons.
