Siaya: Three children die in house fire after gas explosion

Area Assistant Chief Mr. Dedan Ogol said the children were inside the house when a gas cylinder exploded, sparking a fast-spreading blaze that engulfed the entire structure.

He said that by the time neighbours realised what was happening, it was too late to rescue the children, who perished inside the burning house.

Ogol told Ramogi radio that the children’s parents were not at home when the incident occurred, adding that it was the neighbors who rushed to the scene but were unable to extinguish the fire, which razed the house and destroyed everything inside.

The assistant chief confirmed that the bodies were burnt beyond recognition and said that investigations have been launched into the cause of the fire as the village grapples with the tragedy.
