The Yala Magistrate’s Court has issued a warrant of arrest for a clinician based in Siaya County accused of defiling a 14-year-old girl after he failed to appear in court for plea-taking.

The warrant was granted after the prosecution successfully applied for the arrest order following the accused's failure to attend court proceedings.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the clinician faces a charge of defilement contrary to Section 8(1) as read with Section 8(3) of the Sexual Offences Act No. 3 of 2006.

He also faces an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with a child contrary to Section 11(1) of the same Act.

The ODPP says the alleged offence occurred on diverse dates between January 2026 and August 23, 2026, in Gem, Yala Sub-County, Siaya County.

The ODPP, on October 29, announced that it had reviewed an inquiry file submitted by the National Police Service and recommended charges against the clinician.

The DPP subsequently approved the defilement charge following its review of the investigation file.

The matter is scheduled for mention on November 11, 2026.
