Shock as 4-month-old baby found abandoned outside house in Tharaka Nithi

The baby was discovered on Wednesday night and was taken under the care of social welfare officials while authorities launched investigations.

According to Laurencia Kinoti, the area manager, a resident raised the alarm after finding the child abandoned outside her house.

"The baby had light clothes and it was cold outside. The baby had been bitten by mosquitoes. I made a report to the OCS and we went to the hospital, where we were told the baby was in stable condition, except for a cough because of exposure to the cold," she said.

Pascalina Kagendo, a local, said, "The baby has been crying. She needs milk and care. We don't know what we will do as we wait for the court to decide what will happen next."

She continued, "I would like to urge mothers not to abandon their children. Despite their circumstances."
