'Search results not found': IEBC responds after Kenyans report missing voter details

The clarification follows widespread concern on social media on Tuesday after many Kenyans reported receiving a "Search results not found" message when they entered their national ID numbers on the voter verification portal, prompting fears that their voter registration details had been removed.

In a statement, the Commission said the ongoing system upgrade is aimed at improving the reliability, security and overall performance of its digital services.

According to the IEBC, the exercise has temporarily affected public voter search services available through its online verification portal, as well as voter transfer services and requests for changes to voter registration particulars.

However, the Commission assured the public that ongoing voter registration at its 290 constituency offices, Huduma Centres and the Customer Experience Centre at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi has not been affected and continues as scheduled.

"The Commission wishes to inform stakeholders and members of the public that we are currently undertaking a routine upgrade of our ICT systems to enhance reliability, security and performance of our services," the IEBC said.

It added that it will notify the public once the maintenance exercise is complete and normal online services have been restored.
