Police are searching for a middle-aged man accused of killing his 3-year-old step-son in Suna East, Migori County.

Sagegi A Assistant Chief Daniel Osika said the suspect, identified as Josephat Nyabioya, allegedly killed the boy hours after he had a quarrel with his wife, Juliet Nyaboke.

The suspect, who is not the biological father of the two children, had lived with their mother for one year.

Osika said the suspect’s daughter narrated that her step-father ordered them to get into the house following the night quarrel.

He then locked them inside the house and left. Sensing danger, she managed to escape through the window, leaving her brother inside the house.

The man would later reportedly kill the boy before going into hiding.

Osika stated that the boy's body was discovered by his mother, who returned home in the morning, hoping to reconcile with her husband after their argument the previous night.

The area chief said they had to break down the door and discovered the boy’s body on the floor, covered with some clothes.
