Bukembe Boys High School football coach George Mutimba has attributed Kakamega County's continued dominance in school gamesfootball to sustained investment in nurturing young talent and the backing provided by local leaders.

‎According to Mutimba, schools in Kakamega have created an environment that allows talented players to develop and compete consistently at the highest level, giving them an advantage over many other schools in the region.

‎His remarks come after Kakamega High School and Bishop Njenga Girls High School, both representing Kakamega County, emerged as champions of the Western Region Secondary School Games to secure qualification for the national championships.

‎"The good thing about Kakamega is that they don't fear investing in talent development. They are also good in scouting compared to other regions. It is even ironical that players shining in Kakamega schools come from Bungoma County," Mutimba said.

‎Despite Bukembe Boys falling short of their expectations this season, Mutimba remains optimistic about the team's future. He admitted that the side faced several challenges during the tournament but believes the experience has provided important lessons that will help improve the team ahead of next year's competition.

‎"We have picked important lessons, even though we did not make it past the group stage, we know where to work on, because I also took over the team amid numerous challenges, among them lack of proper player recruitment," he added.

‎The coach said the technical bench has already identified areas that require improvement and will work on correcting those weaknesses during preparations for the next school games season.

‎Bukembe Boys finished this year's Western Region tournament with one victory, one draw and one defeat, a campaign that was not enough to challenge for qualification but offered valuable experience for the players.
