Kisumu All Starlets head coach Juma Said remains optimistic that his side can turn around their season and avoid relegation from the Kenya Women’s Premier League, despite a difficult start that has left them rooted near the bottom of the table.
Speaking to Citizen Digital ahead of their upcoming fixtures, Juma expressed confidence in his squad’s potential, insisting that improved commitment and positive results in the remaining matches could lift the team out of the danger zone.
He revealed that the club has recruited five new players, whom he believes will inject fresh energy and quality into the squad as they push for survival.
"The new signings we made are good; they are showing great potential in training, and I believe they will help us," he said.
However, the coach admitted that financial constraints have significantly affected the team’s performance.

According to Juma, the club’s struggles off the pitch have led to inconsistent training sessions, as several players have been unable to attend due to a lack of transport fare. He noted that these challenges contributed heavily to the team’s poor run of results in the first leg of the season.
In a bid to address the situation, Kisumu Allstarlets are set to hold a fundraising event on February 27, aimed at raising funds to support the team’s preparations and logistics for the second half of the campaign.

Juma expressed hope that the initiative will ease the financial burden and enable the players to focus fully on their performances.
‎" We decided to organize a fund drive to help us sustain the team. We have additional players in our squad that will need financial stability," he said.
Currently placed second from bottom with no points, Kisumu Allstarlets face a crucial test this weekend when they take on Gideon Starlets.

The match presents an important opportunity for Juma’s charges to begin their fightback and restore confidence as they chase their first points of the season.
