A Rwandese citizen who is wanted in his country to answer to incitement to commit genocide will remain in police custody for five more days.
Celestin Ntarwanda, alias Edouard Nsengimana, opposed to an application seeking to have him taken back to his country.
Through his lawyer, Ntarawada, who is a French teacher at Gilgil Hills Schools in Nakuru, told the court that his life will be threatened if taken back to Rwanda.
The court heard that a warrant of arrest was issued by Prosecutor Richard Muhumuza of the Republic of Rwanda on April 21, 2015.
“Celestin Ntarwanda, alias Edouard Nsengimana, be and is hereby ordered, to be returned and or conveyed out of Kenya and surrendered to the Republic of Rwanda to face charges of incitement to commit genocide and extermination as a crime against humanity,’’the court heard.
The court was asked to endorse the warrants of arrest issued in Rwanda for execution in Kenya.
The prosecution claims that Celestin Ntarwanda perpetrated widespread and systematic attacks against the Tutsi civilians with intent and knowledge of the systematic attack.
The prosecution further states that there are no legal restrictions to the endorsement of the warrants ID arrest issued by Richard Muhumuza Prosecutor General of the Republic of Rwanda for their execution in Kenya.
The court will on the 13th of this month rule on whether he will be released on bail pending hearing and determination of the extradition application.
