President William Ruto is set to issue title deeds to residents of Mombasa County this Friday as his eight-day tour of the Coast region enters its final stretch.

The President is presiding over the issuance at the Mama Ngina Drive Grounds in Mombasa.

A total of 4,360 title deeds are earmarked for beneficiaries in Mombasa County, according to the programme announced at the beginning of the tour. Across the six coastal counties, nearly 200,000 title deeds are expected to be issued as the government seeks to resolve historical and administrative land issues.

Ruto began the eight-day development tour on September 26, traversing Taita-Taveta, Kwale, Kilifi, Mombasa, Tana River and Lamu counties.

A major highlight of the tour was the groundbreaking of the Ksh.2 trillion Dangote East Africa Refinery in Lamu on Wednesday.

The refinery is expected to process crude from Kenya and other parts of the region and supply refined petroleum products to East African markets. The project is projected to create about 60,000 jobs and support industries linked to petroleum processing.

On Thursday, Ruto continued his engagements in Taita-Taveta and Mombasa, where he launched and inspected various development projects.

At Ronald Ngala Grounds in Mvita Constituency, Mombasa County, the President flagged off medical equipment worth Ksh.500 million destined for 50 hospitals across the county under a partnership between the National and County governments.

The President also held a media engagement at State House, Mombasa, where he spoke at length about the Dangote refinery project and its origins.

Ruto said the idea gained momentum after disruptions to global fuel supplies linked to tensions in the Middle East, prompting the government to explore ways of strengthening Kenya’s energy security. He said discussions with Dangote and consultations with regional leaders eventually led to Lamu being selected as the site.
