Riara Springs students shine at TeenEagle Global Finals in the United Kingdom

Riara was represented by 29 students who returned with an impressive 12 trophies, 57 medals and the title of Best School Overall.

The TeenEagle Global Finals 2026 saw young people from 34 countries across Africa, Asia and Europe come together to compete in debating, writing, creative performance and other communication disciplines.

For the Riara Springs delegation, the week in the United Kingdom was a remarkable demonstration of the breadth of talent, with 18 Gold Medals, 19 Silver Medals, and 20 Bronze Medals, alongside two Honourable Mentions, placing Riara Springs at the top of the overall school rankings.

But wait, there's more; Riara Springs learners emerged Best Debaters Overall, while Rosette Marube was recognised with the Best Debate Showcase award. In Persuasive Writing, Riara learners took first and third positions overall.

The team also claimed first place in the Talent Showcase, bringing a creative dimension to a competition in which the school’s strongest performances were spread across both academic and performance categories.

Other top finishes included TeenEagle Best Overall, second position overall in TeenEagle 2 and third position overall in TeenEagle 3. Taken together, the results secured Riara Springs the competition’s top school honour: Best School Overall.

For the learners, however, the experience extended beyond the trophies. Travelling to the UK placed the girls in an international environment where they had the opportunity to meet and compete alongside students from different countries and backgrounds.

They were challenged to communicate ideas, defend arguments, write persuasively and perform with confidence in front of an international audience. It was also an opportunity for the learners to represent Kenya far from home.

“This achievement is a tremendous source of pride for the entire Riara Springs community. Our learners have demonstrated that excellence is not defined by borders," said Mrs Jane Mulinge, Principal of Riara Springs Girls’ High School.

"Competing alongside students from 34 countries and emerging as the Best School Overall is a remarkable testament to their discipline, preparation, confidence and determination. The achievement reflects months of preparation by the learners and teachers, as well as the support of parents who enabled the students to take part in the international competition."

The learners were not simply being assessed on what they could remember; they were called upon to communicate ideas, think critically, write persuasively, collaborate, debate, create and express themselves with confidence before an international audience.
